Tech in the region

Our Region is Strong

The Toronto Region has become a leading producer of tech talent, and was recently recognized as the fastest growing tech hub in North America.

Much of this growth has stemmed from the 11 postsecondary institutions located throughout the region.

Additionally, world class talent is attracted by a favourable immigration system, a multicultural and welcoming society and unmatched quality of life. With an economy built on regional strengths in automotive, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, food and beverage and financial services, the Toronto Region has been able to build a unique and highly diversified technology sector catering to these core industries.

The interconnected urban area that is the Toronto Region has the population, labour force, and infrastructure needed to seamlessly attract talent from across the region. With distinctive strengths to be celebrated within each municipality, combined with the skilled and diverse talent pool living and working in every corner of the region, we are in strong position to compete with global technology centres like New York City, San Francisco and London. It is the unique strength and resilience of the Toronto Region that will drive the job creation and economic rebuilding necessary to combat these difficult times.
